Drawing for me is a minor activity, but occasionally I use it to play with a new idea or explore one differently. The works are ends in themselves. I don't use drawing to develop ideas for sculpture, or even believe in it.

Whilst anything is possible in a drawing, materials, as you handle them, may suggest unimagined possibilities or deny pre-conceived ones.
